Contemporary Austin, The

Learn together and build a lifelong love of the arts! The Contemporary Austin offers hands-on programs and tools designed to enhance your family’s visit. Admission is FREE daily for ages 18 and under and our military guests, and free for everyone on Thursdays! Coming to one of our free monthly events? Admission is free with registration.


The Art School is located on the fourteen-acre Lake Austin site of historic Laguna Gloria, a natural setting conducive to the creation of art. Our studios have direct access to the outdoors, and we encourage you to explore the grounds while working on class projects. Our goal is to foster your creativity, enhance your visual awareness, and improve your technical skills in your chosen medium.

We offer kids classes year-round! During the school year (September - May), kids classes meet once a week, for 4 weeks. We also have one-off parent & child workshops during the school year. 5-day long, half-day kids' art classes happen during Spring and Summer Break. These classes are for children ages 4-17, and explore various subjects.
