We are celebrating 29 years of service to the Central Texas community! The Puerto Rican Cultural Center (Austin) is the only center in Texas and the Southwest affiliated with the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) for ongoing programs that cannot otherwise be experienced in this region. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Ana Maria Tekina-eiru Maynard, our nonprofit 501(c)(3) mission is to advance cultural awareness and pride through performing arts and community-based cultural programming rooted in Puerto Rican folklore, history, and living traditions. We offer programming in folkloric dance and music, community theatre, ancestral warrior arts, and share Indigenous TaÃno heritage.
We are a community bonded like Family, under an umbrella of Puerto Rican folklore and Taino arts. It takes a village to raise a child; we are that village, for them and for each other. You must travel to faraway places like Chicago or New York City to enjoy another center like ours! Our performing company of dancers, musicians, and juniors perform throughout the year.
